General
What is there to imagine?
The subject area of the A1 level covers the following content:
- Confidence in understanding and using every day expressions and simple sentences
- Being able to slowly and clearly explain yourself, also about specific subjects
- Introducing yourself to others
- Asking questions
In contrast, the C1 level demands standards such as:
- Fluid handling of the language without having to distinctly search for words
- Being able to understand, reflect over, and express demanding texts and complex themes
- Differentiation between implied and included content with clear meaning, structure, and detailed, specific expressions
Before the cours begins, students take a language placement test for German in order to enable them to achieve success in optimal learning.
Why learn German?
Similar to what Frank Harris, an Irish-English author, once said, „Each new language is like an open window, which opens a new view of the world and expands one’s view of life.“ Let us open the window to the German language and dive into the new world of the unknown together!
Let’s begin with a short introduction of German. German is a language which is spoken by approximately 105 million people as a native language and used by at least 80 million people as a foreign language. German is spoken in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, and Luxemburg.
German is surely neither as melodic as French, as expressive as Italian, nor as commonly used as English. Its grammatical precision and syntactical abstraction have demanded German philosophers, poets, authors, and scientists in mentally top shape. However, the works of Leibniz, Kant, Hegel and Nietzsche in philosophy; Goethe, Schiller and Heine in poetry; Mann, Böll and Hesse in literature; and Einstein, Gutenberg and Reis in science have been coined throughout the world. The works of their age have changed and improved our world and belong to the same cultural inheritance – Trust us and make the jump to German!>
One German expression says, “The best German is that which comes from the heart.” Let your heart speak and come to us – our doors are always open. We look forward to seeing you!
